The Scalzo Bayles meat dehydration plant experienced capacity shortages, having to outsource part of the work and pay a premium to a third party.

 

SOLUTION

  1. Recorded and analysed changeover times between different batches

  2. Reduced non-value adding changeover activities

  3. Standardised the new changeover process

  4. Trained staff

  5. Monitored changeover times ongoing against target

 

OUTCOME

Increased capacity by 10% (2.5 hours per day) leading to an additional 4 jobs per week that can now be completed internally and does not need to be outsourced
